  • BRIDGE ENDPLAYS FOR EVERYONE : YES, EVEN YOU

Endplays are an aspect of bridge declarer play that many intermediate players think are beyond them. Yet while they can be extremely complex, the basic principles are not. Several years ago, David Bird wrote Bridge Squeezes for Everyone, a book about an even more complex topic that has become a modern classic. Using the same straightforward, conversational style with recaps and quizzes that characterized the earlier book, this new title will make endplays understandable to many readers who have been afraid to attempt to learn them. • CLEVER PLAYS IN THE TRUMP SUIT

An intermediate-level discussion of declarer play, this book focuses on the power of the trump suit. Its subjects include trump timing - should you draw all the defenders' trumps straight away, some of their trumps, or perhaps perform some other vital task first? - and situations where you need to unblock in the trump suit or to put a defender on lead with a trump. The reader will learn how to make maximum use of the entries provided by the trump suit, and how to perform a trump safety play or a trump avoidance play. Two other important topics are how to make your contract against a bad trump break and how you can survive a forcing attack on the long-trump holding. Later chapters explain how to play contracts with fewer than eight trumps at your disposal, and also how to conjure extra tricks from the trump suit. Every couple of chapters or so, there is a nine-problem quiz section.

  • BEALL ENHANCED PRECISION 4TH EDITION

About the fourth edition: When I completed the third edition of Enhanced Precision, I believed (or at least hoped!) that it would be the final version. But many people made suggestions for improvements and I finally succumbed to writing what I now believe (or at least hope!) will be the ultimate system (knowing full well that there is no ultimate system). In addition to many improvements in the system itself, the fourth edition contains numerous examples of the system in action (in response to numerous requests for examples showing how the system works with real hands). Most of the concepts in this book can be applied to standard bidding systems. They are not confined to big club systems. An editable convention card (already filled out for Enhanced Precision) is provided on the Master Point Press website. And there is now a blog where readers can ask questions and make suggestions. Enjoy! RON BEALL (Bellingham, WA) is a Gold Life Master who has won over 20 regional pair and team events and one major national championship (Six Session National Open Swiss Teams). He is the author of several articles on bidding in the ACBL Bridge Bulletin and in The Bridge World. Ron lives with his wife Jennifer (Bronze Life Master) and Darth (Vader), his adorable toy poodle

  • NEVER A DULL DEAL : FAITH HOPE AND PROBABILITY

In Bob Mackinnons bestseller, Bridge, Probability and Information, he drew on his professional background in mathematics to introduce readers to the mysteries of information theory and Bayes Theorem, and their surprisingly practical applications for bridge players. In this sequel, he takes these same ideas further, exploring the application of the concepts of conditional probability to opening leads, declarer play, bidding theory, and even the correct strategy at different forms of scoring.
